HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE?

FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
Our secure
laptop & notebook computer travel case provides safe
effective theft protection security for your laptop &
notebook computer in the car, home, hotel, school, office
and anywhere you travel.
1) What are some objects that
can fit into
the Ncase portable safe?
At 18" x 13" x 4", the Ncase will hold the
largest laptop computers and hand guns.
Two document folders hold legal size papers. Most digital
electronics fit easily inside.
2) What are some objects that
may not fit?
The Ncase
is only 4 inches high. Objects whose dimensions exceed 4
inches are too large to fit inside. Laptops, hand guns
and most digital cameras are thin and rarely exceed 2
inches wide, but some large camcorders and cameras may
exceed the 4 inch limit.
3) What is the best way to
protect valuables from theft?
You can invest in a portable safe and
adhere to a simple 3 step security protocol:
1. Valuable equipment is safest when it is
in active use, because it has your full attention.
2. Valuable equipment may be safely stored
in a facility which you know to be secure.
3. Valuable equipment which is not in clear sight
or stored in a
secure facility must be locked in
a portable safe which
is securely cabled to a sturdy (preferably steel)
structure.
4) What is the best way to use
the Ncase?
Your Ncase
can be used in 3 basic ways to meet your changing
security needs:
Fully
Mobile: Bring the case and cable
with you, then secure the case wherever you go.
Semi
Permanent: Leave the cable where
you need it most, then secure the case to it later.
Permanent:
Keep the case cabled where you need it most, then store
valuables inside.
5) Where do I attach the Ncase in a vehicle for best
results?
Install your portable
safe where is is most convenient for you.
There are many options:
- In passenger cars
the cable can be attached in the trunk or the
front or back seat. Most trunks have large open
"C" shaped hinges which close inside
the trunk. The cable can be attached to the
hinge. The hinge without the wiring harness is
best.
- In vehicles without
trunks the cable can be attached to
the steel frame of one of the front or back seats
or around or through another sturdy (preferably
steel) structure. Care must be given to insure
that the movement of the seat is not impaired.
- In SUV's the
cable can be attached to the roll bar or steel
luggage tie downs.
- Every vehicle
has numerous steel brackets which are used to
attach the gas filler tube, radio antennas and
other objects to the body of the car. The cable
can be looped around and through these or other
sturdy structural elements of the car body.
6) What do I need to think about
when attaching the Ncase in a vehicle?
- Your portable
safe is slippery. It may slide if
placed flat on the floor of the trunk.
- Some vehicles have scissor-type trunk hinges,
which close outside
the trunk cavity. Do not try to loop the cable
around hinges which close outside the
trunk cavity.
- Verify that cables attached to steel seat
frames do not iterfere with seat movement.
- If you travel with a hand gun in your Ncase, be aware
of applicable firearms laws.
7) Can the Ncase be used to deter thieves
from stealing a car?
The Ncase
was designed to protect valuables locked inside, but it
may also be used to deter car thieves by impeding the
operation of the steering wheel. The 5' security cable
can be passed through multiple
openings in the steering wheel and locked
inside the case.
In most vehicles, this obstruction keeps
the steering wheel from turning and makes it impossible
for someone to sit in the driver's seat with the case
attached to the. This obstruction technique works the
same whether the portable
safe is full or empty.
8) How difficult is it for a
thief to saw off the cable?
The Ncase
is secured with a detachable cut-resistant cable of 3/8
inch steel "aircraft" cable inside a clear
vinyl tube. "Wire rope" is made by twisting
over 150 individual steel strands into a spiral. These
150 steel strands are extremely difficult to cut or saw.
Saws are not effective because the limp
cable is hard to hold still and the individual steel
strands get caught in the teeth. Common cutting tools are
not effective because the cable strands spread out flat
when pinched with bolt cutters and similar tools. If one
steel strand remains uncut, the cable will continue to
keep thieves from removing your portable
safe.
9) How difficult is it for a
thief to detach the cable from the Ncase?
One end of the cable is looped around a sturdy part of
a vehicle or other stout object and the other end slips
into a 3/8" grommeted hole on the left side of the
case. Inside, the end of the cable is secured by passing
a steel hitch pin through the hole drilled in the cable
end.
The hitch pin which holds the cable end
inside the case is accessible only when the unit is
unlocked with the lid open. Thieves will find it almost
impossible to detach the cable by pulling. Twisting the
case will bend the hitch pin, making the cable even
harder to remove.
10) How difficult is it for a
thief to force open the Ncase?
The 2 piece pressed aluminum shell is secured by a
hinge at the rear and locks in the front
- The full length "piano" hinge is
double wide and attached with 4 rows of rivets.
- Two proprietary heavy duty combination locks
have 8" of locking surface hidden inside the
case. They are designed to jam shut if anyone
tries to pry the case open.
11) Is the aluminum case
waterproof?
The Ncase is designed protect its
contents from moisture and dirt, but it is not waterproof.
- The upper and lower lips form a tongue and
groove seal which protects the contents from most
dirt and moisture (like light rain), but the seal
is not
water tight.
- When the cable is used the chrome end fits
tightly in the hole in the side of the case.
- When the cable is not used a black rubber plug
on the inside fills the cable hole.
12) What can I do to avoid
surface scratches and small dents?
Not much! The
aluminum used to make the case is light, strong, durable
and handsome, but aluminum is a relatively soft metal and
it attracts surface scratches and small dents.
- The natural "brushed" surface hides
scratches much better than coated aluminum.
- The top and bottom of the case contain 6
stiffening bars which protect the surface.
- Take care to to avoid damage by metal rollers
and rough handling at x-ray checks.
- Keep the case from sliding in car trunks or
being tossed around in moving vehicles.
- Keep the case in the bubble wrap cover it was
packed in at the factory.
- Don't worry, be happy that the case protected
your valuables from rough treatment.
13) What can I do to remove
surface scratches and small dents?
Not much! Your
Ncase will eventually earn its travel scars just as our
faces earn wrinkles.
- The natural "brushed" surface hides
scratches, but polishing it leaves a shiny spot.
- The aluminum is too soft to "pop
out" dents easily. You can try, but it may
not work.
- Surface blemishes will not be noticed by
anyone but you and will not limit its service.
- If you know or find out how to effectively
remove scratches & dents, Please Tell Us!
14) How can I get a volume
discount, distribute or resell portable safes?

quantity direct from the factory.
- If you order from an authorized reseller, you
must negotiate prices with the reseller.
- Container load orders (2500) receive our best
price and free shipping and handling.
